Primary Responsibilities of the Role

The responsibilities associated with this position include:

- Facilitating communication among nursing staff, other healthcare professionals, patients, and their families to ensure safe and effective care.

- Actively participating in board rounds, ward rounds, and other daily unit activities.

- Providing appropriate supervision to other staff members as required.

- Upholding high standards of professionalism, particularly in documentation practices.

- Engaging in the Emergency rota.

- Managing discharge notifications and follow-up clinic correspondence as directed.

Working with Our Organization

Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells Trust operates two Emergency Departments, collectively serving approximately 150,000 patients each year. Our Tunbridge Wells facility is a state-of-the-art Emergency Department that regularly treats trauma patients and features its own helipad. Plans are underway to establish a dedicated Paediatric Emergency Department.

The Trust is located in a scenic region of Kent, offering excellent transport connections, outstanding educational institutions, and a variety of recreational activities.

Our educational program has received positive feedback, with a growing number of candidates advancing into or completing higher specialist training with us.

The departments are overseen by experienced ED Consultants who are dedicated to supporting your development in clinical, academic, and leadership skills while you are part of our team and beyond.

Detailed Job Description and Core Responsibilities

- Delivering a high standard of care to all patients under your clinical responsibility.

- Engaging in clinical and service-related activities aimed at ensuring high-quality patient care throughout the Trust.

- Collaborating closely with other medical, professional, and managerial colleagues, both within and outside the specialty, to provide exceptional healthcare services to the Trust's patients and contribute to strategic planning for the future.

Candidate Requirements

Qualifications

Essential Criteria:

  • Full GMC registration
  • MB BS (or equivalent)

Desirable Criteria:

  • MCEM (or part)
  • ATLS
  • ALS
  • APLS
  • EPLS

Clinical Experience

Essential Criteria:

  • Completion of Foundation training or equivalent
  • At least 4 years of full-time postgraduate training, with a minimum of 2 years in Emergency Medicine

Teaching Skills
