POSITION SUMMARY

The IT Business Analyst plays a crucial role in aligning technology solutions with business objectives. This position serves as a liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring that IT initiatives meet organizational needs effectively.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Requirements Analysis: Engage with stakeholders to gather, assess, and document business requirements through various methods such as interviews and workshops.
  • Documentation and Analysis: Examine business processes and systems, creating detailed documentation including functional specifications and user stories with defined acceptance criteria.
  • Technical Solution Design: Collaborate with IT teams to convert business needs into actionable technical solutions, aiding in the design of software applications and interfaces.
  • Project Support: Assist project managers in defining project scope, objectives, and timelines while prioritizing deliverables effectively.
  • Quality Assurance: Develop and implement testing strategies to ensure deliverables meet quality standards through system and user acceptance testing.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Manage communication between business stakeholders and technical teams, addressing change requests and resolving issues related to project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • User Training and Support: Develop training materials and conduct sessions for end-users, providing ongoing support and troubleshooting assistance.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay informed about industry trends and best practices, identifying opportunities for process enhancements and innovations.
  • Perform additional related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a Business Analyst role or similar position within a corporate or governmental environment.
  • Any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities for the role.

Licenses or Certifications:

Certification as a Business Analyst Professional (CBAP) is preferred but not mandatory.

  • Strong understanding of city or departmental policies and procedures essential for effective job performance.
  • Exceptional analytical skills to translate complex business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Proficient in business process modeling and requirement elicitation techniques.
  • Ability to analyze and categorize data effectively, adhering to established standards.
  • Capable of utilizing a variety of reference materials and data sources.
  • Skilled in applying principles of motivation and leadership to foster teamwork and problem-solving.
  • Effective at managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and creativity in evaluating information.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position may involve exposure to various environmental conditions, including dust and varying light levels.
