POSITION SUMMARY

The objective of this role is to develop and evaluate financial models, including predictive analytics, to facilitate informed decision-making across the organization. This position requires collaboration with various departments to deliver financial insights and strategic recommendations, support economic development initiatives, and project long-term operational expenses.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, sustain, and assess intricate financial models to aid in business planning, forecasting, and strategic decision-making.
  • Construct predictive financial models to estimate future financial outcomes based on historical performance and market analysis.
  • Examine financial data and trends to uncover potential risks and opportunities for the organization.
  • Evaluate revenue-backed bonds and provide insights regarding their financial implications and feasibility.
  • Identify and assess new business opportunities, offering financial insights and recommendations to bolster strategic objectives.
  • Project long-term operational costs and evaluate their effects on the organization’s financial stability.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations to convey financial insights and recommendations to upper management.
  • Assist in the budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with the organization’s strategic goals.
  • Conduct variance analysis to compare actual financial performance against budgeted figures.
  • Collaborate with the economic development team to support financial analysis for various projects and initiatives.
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support tax investments aimed at economic growth.
  • Work with other departments to gather necessary financial data and support financial initiatives.
  • Monitor financial performance and identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency enhancements.
  • Assist with budget forecasting, tracking contractual obligations, and managing financial data.
  • Analyze revenue variances in relation to the approved budget and prepare monthly management reports with recommendations.
  • Generate monthly and quarterly financial reports and other analyses as required.
  • Research and compile financial records for both internal and external reporting, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Manage customer inquiries effectively and respond in a timely manner.
  • Apply organizational policies and select appropriate procedures to achieve tasks.
  • Demonstrate the ability to analyze complex financial data effectively.
  • Oversee complex special projects, programs, and studies as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline is required, along with a minimum of five years of experience in budget and/or financial analysis, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities for this role.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with regulations, ordinances, and standards governing municipal finance and budgeting.
  • Understanding of accounting principles, budget preparation, and management practices.
  • Proficiency in automated financial record-keeping systems and GAAP standards.
  • Ability to research, analyze, reconcile, and report financial information across multiple accounts and budgets.
  • Skill in creating complex spreadsheets and utilizing various software applications.
  • Capability to evaluate data and make informed decisions based on established criteria.
  • Ability to influence and coordinate activities across different functions.
  • Capacity to manage financial information with integrity and transparency.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships across the organization.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The role is primarily sedentary, requiring light physical effort, and may involve extended periods at a workstation. The work environment is generally free from adverse conditions.
