Job Summary
The Patient Service Representative reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Memorial Healthcare, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communication and Patient Interaction: Communicate effectively with patients and guests, including greeting them upon arrival, confirming identity, and providing necessary information related to their visit.
- Registration and Check-in/Check-out Functions: Complete check-in/out functions as directed, ensuring accurate and efficient processing of patient information.
- Patient Identification and Demographic Information: Confirm and update patient identification and demographic/insurance information, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Registration and Consent: Complete patient registration as needed, obtain patient consents/authorizations, and collect co-payments, past due balances, and point of service payments.
- Financial Transactions: Post payments, process billing information, and perform end-of-day cash drawer closing.
- Waiting Area Maintenance: Maintain a clean and comfortable waiting area, ensuring a positive experience for patients and their families.
- Appointment Scheduling: Inform patients of any delays or changes in appointment status and schedule appointments as necessary.
- Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned, supporting the team in achieving our mission and vision.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Experience: Zero (0) to two (2) years of experience in a customer service position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree.
- Experience: Previous experience in a healthcare setting.
- Skills: Working knowledge of medical terminology and bilingual skills.
