Compensation: $41,600 - $45,760

Work Schedule: Full-time, exempt; variable hours including evenings and weekends

Key Responsibilities:

As a Foster Care Worker, you will independently manage a diverse range of tasks aimed at providing essential services to birth families, foster families, and adoptive families. Your role will involve:

  1. Engaging regularly with agency personnel, clients, DHHS representatives, court officials, and referral sources.
  2. Directly interacting with children, biological families, foster families, adoptive families, and other relevant stakeholders.
  3. Adhering to agency policies, COA regulations, and all federal and state requirements.
  4. Completing necessary training hours to maintain compliance.
  5. Utilizing agency resources effectively to enhance service delivery.
  6. Maintaining accurate and confidential records for all cases.
  7. Assisting in the recruitment and retention of foster families.
  8. Providing crisis intervention services and being available for on-call support as needed.
  9. Reporting any suspected child abuse or neglect in accordance with state laws.
  10. Participating in phone calls, home visits, court hearings, and other relevant meetings to ensure effective service delivery.
  11. Offering training and education on foster care policies and procedures.
  12. Conducting thorough assessments of families and individuals to identify and address their needs.
  13. Developing, implementing, and monitoring individualized case plans.
  14. Preparing and maintaining comprehensive reports and documentation as per agency and state guidelines.
  15. Attending court hearings and providing accurate testimony regarding case progress.
  16. Facilitating transportation assistance for clients when necessary.
  17. Conducting investigations in line with state or agency regulations.
  18. Completing additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  1. Familiarity with agency policies and operational procedures.
  2. Knowledge of state and federal social welfare laws, including DHHS policies.
  3. Strong record-keeping and report preparation skills.
  4. Understanding of social work principles and practices.
  5. Excellent communication, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
  6. Proficiency in navigating computer systems.
  7. Ability to work independently and demonstrate professionalism.
  8. A clean moral character and emotional stability.
  9. A valid Michigan Driver's License and the ability to meet driving insurability requirements.
  10. Compliance with background checks and central registry requirements.
Educational Requirements:

A Bachelor's or Master's degree in human services fields such as social work, psychology, or sociology is required. Candidates should also complete all initial and ongoing training requirements.

Experience Requirements:

A minimum of one year of experience as a social service worker is preferred, along with completion of relevant training in foster care or adoption.
