As a Senior Accountant at Backroads, your role will encompass ensuring compliance and providing statutory leadership alongside GAAP guidance. You will oversee monthly internal compliance and annual external audit reporting, while also collaborating with external firms. Your expertise will make you a key resource for all matters related to GAAP, IFRS, and other regulatory standards. Additionally, you will coordinate with finance personnel to prepare and review account reconciliations from foreign subsidiary staff.

This position offers a hybrid work model: 4 days in the office and 1 day remote.

Key Responsibilities:

GENERAL ACCOUNTING

  • Enhance and develop internal controls to safeguard Backroads' financial assets.
  • Research and propose accounting presentations for new or revised business initiatives.
AUDIT
  • Collaborate with finance teams to prepare audit schedules and respond to inquiries.
  • Analyze audit compliance reports as required.
FOREIGN SUBSIDIARIES
  • Review account reconciliations from foreign subsidiary staff and provide insightful reporting to management.
  • Document accounting procedures for newly established or acquired entities in partnership with internal and external service providers.
  • Work with third-party accountants on fixed asset transactions and ensure accurate month-end financial reporting.
TAX (PROPERTY, SALES, USE, etc.)
  • Prepare accurate sales and use tax filings and research property tax reports across various jurisdictions.
  • Respond to governmental regulatory notices and conduct necessary research and analysis.
INSURANCE
  • Manage the annual insurance program renewal in collaboration with internal teams and external brokers.
  • Generate reports required by the business and its insurance brokers, utilizing advanced Excel functions.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or Law.
  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP principles and financial statements in multi-entity environments.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in compliance or a related field.
  • International accounting experience, preferably in Europe.
  • Public accounting experience is preferred; CPA certification is a plus.
