Position Purpose:

The Accountant will be integral to our financial operations, managing essential daily functions such as processing invoices, handling receipts, managing payments, overseeing month-end closures, and ensuring accurate general ledger account reconciliations. This role requires meticulous attention to detail and the ability to assist team members and leadership with inquiries and issues.

Reporting Structure:

This position will report directly to the Controller.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly journal entries in compliance with GAAP and internal reporting standards.
  • Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes for the Balance Sheet and Income Statement, including bank and credit card reconciliations.
  • Manage the accounts receivable function, ensuring timely and accurate invoicing, credit processing, and collection activities.
  • Process daily financial transactions including checks, credit cards, ACH payments, and customer credits.
  • Handle customer requests, such as W9 forms and address changes.
  • Evaluate and release orders for shipment based on accuracy, completeness, and customer account status.
  • Conduct analytical reviews of monthly financial statements, explaining variances to the Controller.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts.
  • Assist with monthly and quarterly sales and use tax filings.
  • Supervise the accounting assistant and receptionist.
  • Support the Controller in the annual budgeting process and financial forecasting.
  • Assist with financial and regulatory audits.
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and supporting documentation.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by internal and external stakeholders.

  • Thorough understanding of GAAP accounting principles and regulations.

  • Competence in gathering data, compiling information, and preparing reports.

  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Excellent analytical skills for resolving complex issues.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in a finance and accounting role with increasing responsibilities.
  • Experience with general ledger month-end financial close in a manufacturing environment.
  • Corporate-level manufacturing experience is essential.

Physical Requirements:

  • Some bending and stretching may be necessary.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 lbs.
