JOB TITLE: Clinical Support Specialist (CMA, MA, RMA, LPN, EMT)

DEPARTMENT: Clinical Services

REPORTS TO: Care Delivery Supervisor

DIRECTION OF OTHERS: None

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Responsibilities include executing patient care tasks and medical directives as assigned by physicians, advanced practice providers, or other healthcare professionals in accordance with the Care Model Process.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Uphold confidentiality of sensitive information.

- Conduct pre-visit preparations, manage visit processes, and execute other workflows associated with the Care Model Process.

- Ensure accurate and timely documentation to support patient care and service delivery.

- Gather health history information and obtain precise vital signs, recognizing and reporting any variances.

- Identify the necessity for and perform routine office procedures and testing within the outpatient care environment.

- Document observations, actions, and patient outcomes accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).

- Assess patient education needs, provide appropriate instructions, and pend orders as necessary.

- Maintain cleanliness and organization of examination rooms between patient visits and at the conclusion of sessions.

- Sterilize and clean medical equipment and instruments.

- Monitor and request supplies to ensure adequate inventory and prevent service interruptions.

- Adhere to relevant legislation, including OSHA and infection control standards.

- Assist in the orientation and training of new staff members to ensure adherence to established procedures.

- Engage in quality improvement initiatives.

- Actively participate in self-development and educational opportunities.

- Comply with the Code of Conduct and all organizational policies, procedures, and standing orders.

- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, holding oneself accountable.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

- Requires a full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, bending, and reaching. Involves prolonged walking and standing. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds.

- Requires adequate vision, hearing, and manual dexterity.

- Must be able to speak, read, and write English proficiently.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, AND WORK AIDS:

- Includes but is not limited to telephones, computers, emergency carts, cardiac monitors, suction devices, oxygen delivery systems, injection supplies (needles, syringes, serums), and other equipment relevant to a clinical setting.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:

- LPN (Current MN License), or

- CMA Current AAMA Certification, or

- RMA Current AMT Certification, or

- Medical Assistant Non-Certified completion of an accredited medical assistant program (e.g., CAAHCP, ABHES), or

- Graduate of an accredited EMT program with a current EMT license.

- CPR Certification required and must be maintained.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

- Effective organizational skills.

- Ability to establish priorities.

- Understanding of regulations and procedures for administering patient care.

- Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments for patient care.

- Awareness of common safety hazards and universal precautions to ensure safe working conditions.

- Ability to maintain records, write reports, and respond to correspondence.

- Skill in developing and maintaining departmental quality assurance.

- Ability to foster effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.

- Ability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations.

- Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.

- Strong communication skills.

- Ability to work efficiently under pressure.

- Works collaboratively as a team player.
