As a Medical Office Coordinator at Upstate University Hospital, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical facilities. Your responsibilities will include scheduling appointments, preparing charts, and verifying patient information.
- Answer phone calls, take accurate messages, and triage calls to ensure timely communication with patients and staff.
- Schedule new patient and follow-up appointments, and review patient orders to ensure all necessary information is included in the chart.
- Responsible for the accurate and timely filing of medical records, ensuring that all pertinent information is available for future reference.
- Review and verify documents for completeness, content, and accuracy, including ensuring that all necessary signatures are present.
- Verify insurance eligibility and obtain necessary authorizations for patient care.
- Document all interactions and activities in accordance with departmental policy.
- Assist with chart label preparation and patient database updates.
- Participate in the filing of information and maintenance of medical records for patients not scheduled for the following day.
- High school diploma or equivalent and two years of clerical support experience, preferably in a medical setting.
- Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel) and knowledge of EPIC.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
