Position Overview:
The Junior Structural Engineer will be responsible for the design of various structures associated with transportation and civil engineering projects. Key responsibilities include structural design, analysis, planning, and project review.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Design a variety of structure types for transportation-related projects, including bridges and retaining walls.
2. Identify structure types and dimensions, conducting preliminary design calculations during the initial design phase.
3. Collaborate with the Structural Engineering Manager to determine the appropriate design and analysis methodologies.
4. Execute structural analysis and generate design calculations.
5. Utilize applicable design codes (such as AASHTO LFRD Bridge Design Code or IBC Code) to apply loads to structural components, ensuring compliance with strength and serviceability criteria.
6. Create sketches and coordinate with CAD technicians for plan development.
7. Maintain regular communication with the Structural Engineering Manager.
8. Produce accurate and comprehensive structural details, construction plans, and reports, adhering to engineering best practices and utilizing industry-standard software.
9. Deliver project outputs within set timelines, including calculations, reports, and spreadsheets.
10. Prepare structural layouts, specifications, and cost estimates for construction.
11. Follow the internal Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.
12. Collaborate with the team to develop detailed design documents for construction.
13. Communicate effectively with Project Managers regarding key issues and project progress.
14. Foster positive working relationships with colleagues, clients, and business partners.
15. Attend design review meetings and engage positively with clients and construction teams.
16. Travel to meetings and job sites as necessary.
17. Mentor junior engineers as needed.
18. Lead projects and provide project management support when required.
19. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Structural Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred.
- At least 5 years of progressive experience in structural design and analysis, particularly with bridges and transportation structures.
- Proficient in structural analysis/design software and finite element analysis tools.
- Skilled in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, InRoads, and/or Microstation software.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) project development processes.
- Proficiency in Microstation InRoads and/or Microstation OpenRoads software.

Compensation:
Competitive salary based on experience.

Work Environment:
Office setting with extended periods at a computer workstation. Overtime may be required periodically.
