About the Role

Merrick & Company is seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer III to join our team in the Water Practice of our Infrastructure Engineering Business Unit. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in designing and developing water and wastewater treatment plants, distribution and collection systems, and other environmental structures and facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide structural engineering services to clients in the water and environmental engineering industry.
  • Design new structures and evaluate and use existing structures, constructed of reinforced concrete, steel, and other materials.
  • Develop project proposals, scopes, and budgets, and generate specifications and technical reports.
  • Direct design staff in the preparation of drawings and other engineering deliverables.
  • Collaborate with civil, mechanical, and process engineers and other disciplines to best serve our clients.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Eight to twelve years of civil/structural engineering experience.
  • Professional Engineering license required.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with high degrees of autonomy.
  • Proficiency with Windows operating system and Microsoft Office software.
  • Experience with conventional structural design codes, including the International Building Code, AISC Steel Construction Manual, ACI 318, and ACI 350.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters degree in Engineering.
  • Experience in the design of environmental engineering concrete structures.
  • Proficient in using structural software to model 3D structures using plates or panels for finite element analysis (FEA) and interpret results.
