Position Overview:

Merrick & Company is in search of a seasoned Structural Engineer to enhance our Water Practice within the Infrastructure Engineering Business Unit. This role presents a unique opportunity to engage in meaningful work that supports local communities in a vital and expanding sector, driven by the need for community development, regulatory compliance, and the management of aging infrastructure.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with civil, mechanical, and process engineers, as well as other specialists, to effectively serve our primary clientele, which includes local governments and agencies. Projects will involve the development of water and wastewater treatment facilities, distribution and collection systems, recreational enhancements on waterways, and various environmental structures.

Compensation: The typical salary range for this role is between $105,000 and $125,000, with the base pay subject to variation based on relevant knowledge, skills, and experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver structural engineering services tailored to clients in the water and environmental sectors.
  • Engage in the design of new structures and assess existing ones, primarily utilizing reinforced concrete, steel, and other materials.
  • Perform engineering tasks including design, analysis, and evaluation of tanks, basins, pump stations, foundations, and similar structures.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, sketches, and technical documentation; oversee design staff in producing engineering deliverables.
  • Utilize engineering software proficiently and demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Produce innovative and cost-effective designs while maintaining a client-focused approach.
  • Communicate effectively with both internal teams and external clients.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Eight to twelve years of experience in civil/structural engineering.
  • Professional Engineering license is mandatory.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and efficiently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with structural design codes.
  • Experience in the design of buildings and structures is essential.
  • Familiarity with engineering software such as RISA 3D, STAAD.Pro, and AutoCAD is advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel for site visits and client meetings.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Engineering.
  • Experience in designing environmental engineering concrete structures.
  • Proficiency in structural modeling software.
