Job Overview

The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the cleaning staff to ensure that all guest accommodations and common areas are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and orderliness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervision and Quality Control:
    • Delegate tasks and monitor the performance of housekeeping staff to ensure compliance with cleanliness standards.
    • Address and resolve any complaints related to housekeeping services.
    • Prepare work schedules based on occupancy and staffing needs.
    • Collaborate with other departments to coordinate cleaning schedules.
    • Step in to perform cleaning duties during peak times or staff shortages.
    • Assess the condition of furniture and equipment, recommending repairs or replacements as necessary.
  • Training and Staff Development:
    • Conduct training sessions for new hires on policies and procedures.
    • Set performance standards and expectations for housekeeping personnel.
    • Participate in the hiring process and recommend personnel changes.
    • Analyze staffing needs and make recommendations for hiring.
    • Encourage feedback from staff to improve operations.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate supplies are available.
    • Distribute cleaning supplies and equipment to staff as needed.
    • Maintain appropriate stock levels of linens and other supplies.
  • Reporting and Administrative Duties:
    • Compile reports on occupancy rates, labor costs, and departmental expenditures.
    • Document work assignments and staff performance for record-keeping.
    • Keep management updated on departmental activities and any significant issues.
  • Guest Satisfaction:
    • Enhance guest experiences by addressing any service-related issues promptly.
    • Foster a positive work environment to boost staff morale and productivity.
    • Focus on continuous improvement in service delivery during team meetings.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • Education:
    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience:
    • At least 2 years of experience in housekeeping.
    • Previous experience in a supervisory role within a hotel or resort setting.
  • Skills:
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
    • Fluent in English; bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities.
    • Able to work both independently and collaboratively.
