Team Operations Supervisor

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Team Operations Supervisor serves as an initial supervisory role within our retail environment. This position plays a crucial part in the success of the organization by actively engaging in the daily operational activities of the department. The Supervisor is responsible for leading a shift effectively while ensuring the highest standards of operational performance. This role may involve overseeing the opening or closing tasks of the department in collaboration with the Department Manager. Flexibility in working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, is essential.

  • Meat Department
  • Bakery Department
  • Food Service Department
  • Tortilla Production
  • Bulk Deli and Cheese Section
  • Seafood Department

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Supervisor's duties encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Fostering an atmosphere of exceptional customer service on a daily basis.
  • Exhibiting a proactive and positive demeanor.
  • Conducting thorough inspections of the store at the start and end of each shift, as well as periodically throughout the day.
  • Leading various departments as required during the shift.
  • Coaching team members to ensure seamless shift operations.
  • Executing inventory counts and managing stock levels in accordance with company policies.
  • Ensuring that closing procedures are completed consistently.
  • Overseeing the store's opening or closing activities.
  • Managing inventory and placing orders as necessary.
  • Adhering to cash handling protocols as outlined in company policies.
  • Assisting in the orientation and training of new employees.
  • Taking responsibility for the development and training of team members.
  • Demonstrating integrity, honesty, and leadership that aligns with the values of El Super.
  • Effectively managing time to fulfill all job responsibilities.
  • Monitoring food quality and temperatures throughout the day to comply with company and health regulations.
  • Providing ongoing feedback and coaching to team members and addressing performance issues as needed.
  • Encouraging and motivating team members through respectful and positive leadership.
  • Creating a supportive team environment by recognizing and celebrating individual and team achievements.
  • Maintaining consistent attendance and punctuality while adhering to the code of conduct.
  • Facilitating cross-training for team members across various departments.
  • Performing additional duties as required or requested.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES: The Supervisor aids in the oversight and guidance of team members to ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and applicable regulations. Responsibilities include assisting in employee training, planning and assigning tasks, ensuring proper meal and rest breaks, motivating staff, identifying performance issues, addressing complaints, and resolving conflicts.

QUALIFICATIONS: To succeed in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill each essential duty effectively. The following qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in fast-casual dining or retail operations.
  • Experience in a training capacity is preferred.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Previous leadership experience is advantageous.
  • Customer-focused mindset.
  • Detail-oriented and action-driven.
  • Exhibits integrity, trustworthiness, and strong ethical values.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to adhere to all safety, health, and sanitation protocols.
  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
  • Successful completion of the certification process is required.
  • Ability to take direction and delegate tasks effectively.
  • Capability to maintain control during shifts.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Adaptable, team-oriented, reliable, and possesses a strong work ethic.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Must pass background and drug screening.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Experience:

Experience in grocery operations is beneficial.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Ability to follow customer service protocols.
  • Demonstrated customer service experience.
  • Ability to engage with customers and colleagues effectively.
  • Capability to understand and follow instructions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position is primarily indoors, within the retail space or warehouse, with temperatures potentially reaching up to 95 degrees.
