Position Overview

Are you enthusiastic about advancing human space exploration and contributing to groundbreaking projects? MRI Technologies, a woman-owned firm specializing in Technologies and Engineering Services, offers a unique opportunity for a Systems Engineer - Gateway HALO FCS. This role focuses on the design and development of habitation systems and hardware for the Gateway vehicle and the Habitation and Logistics Outpost (HALO) module.

The HALO module is pivotal as the first pressurized component of NASA's Gateway, designed to orbit the moon and serve as a temporary habitat and workplace for astronauts. We are dedicated to our mission and seek individuals who are ready to tackle the challenges of deep space exploration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and present architectural trade studies and analyses that will shape the overall design and performance.
  • Decompose requirements and establish specifications for Level 3 (Habitation and Logistics module).
  • Create verification and validation plans and documentation.
  • Develop interface control documents.
  • Review and provide feedback on program documentation.
  • Support assessments on crew equipment, including stowage solutions and inventory management.
  • Present findings to Gateway Program management and engineering leadership.
  • Collaborate with other Gateway system management teams, including power and life support systems.
  • Engage with related programs such as Orion and the Human Lander System.
  • Work collaboratively in a team setting and report progress to the team lead.
  • May assist with various Advanced Exploration System (AES) Logistics Reduction projects, such as innovative clothing technologies and autonomous inventory management.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution with 2-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in developing space systems requirements documents, including functional requirements and verification criteria.
  • Familiarity with the design, assembly, verification, testing, and operation of space systems, particularly habitation systems.
  • Understanding of standard concepts, practices, and procedures in the space hardware sector.
  • Proficient in preparing written reports and delivering presentations in meetings.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and assess project needs effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Johnson Space Center (JSC) processes and organizational structure.
  • Experience with spacecraft habitation systems.
  • Familiarity with model-based systems engineering (MBSE).
  • Understanding of Systems Engineering methodologies and practices.

Note: Proof of U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency may be required for this position. Candidates must be able to pass a U.S. government background investigation.
