Job Overview

Position Summary

The Head of Financial Strategy will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and will oversee the budgeting, forecasting, and consolidation processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. This role emphasizes data collection and analysis, providing essential insights that support management in making informed operational decisions.

This position will also manage Financial Planning & Analysis for the Sales division, focusing on forecasting, budgeting, and performance analysis against established targets.

In addition, the role will contribute to strategic planning efforts, leveraging historical data and current forecasts to align with the company's growth objectives. The individual will play a crucial role in driving consistency in financial practices across various locations and facilitating the integration of M&A initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the financial budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring uniformity across all locations in data collection and presentation.
  • Provide guidance and support to Finance, M&A, Operations, and Sales teams.
  • Assist in monthly financial forecasting and performance management, including identifying root causes of variances and implementing corrective actions.
  • Oversee the administration of the automated financial reporting system.
  • Lead capital expenditure planning and control, ensuring consistent application of budgeting and performance tracking across all sites.
  • Conduct ad-hoc financial analyses and special projects to enhance management's understanding of business performance and identify improvement opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and mentoring skills, with the ability to connect financial outcomes to operational performance drivers.
  • Extensive experience in developing complex financial models to clarify operational costs.
  • Solid understanding of financial and accounting principles that impact operations, with a focus on creating value for stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex financial information clearly.
  • Experience in a dynamic environment with multiple priorities and high expectations.
  • Proficiency in financial systems, particularly QAD, and advanced Excel skills are essential.
  • Significant experience with financial consolidations and familiarity with financial software is preferred.
  • A commitment to a long-term career with a forward-thinking organization.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; MBA or equivalent preferred.
  • Over 10 years of progressive experience in Finance/Accounting within a manufacturing context.
  • Demonstrated success in process improvement and team development.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, with skills in pivot tables and macros.
  • Experience in creating impactful presentations for diverse audiences.
  • Familiarity with IQMS and similar financial applications is advantageous.
