Job Overview

Position Summary: The Associate Volleyball Coach plays a vital role in supporting the mission of the Catholic institution by assisting in the management of the volleyball program, ensuring that student-athletes are well-prepared for competitive events. This role is recommended by the athletic director and is subject to hiring and evaluation processes established by the principal.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promotes and adheres to the principles of Catholic education and the school’s mission.
  • Maintains confidentiality concerning school-related matters.
  • Exemplifies professional behavior and sportsmanship, fostering these qualities in team members.
  • Implements practice and game strategies in collaboration with the Athletic Director and Head Volleyball Coach.
  • Monitors the physical well-being and fitness levels of participants, reporting any injuries to guardians and school officials.
  • Continuously supervises all participant activities during practices and games.
  • Instructs student-athletes on essential safety techniques and ensures compliance with safety regulations.
  • Adheres to school and diocesan policies regarding safety protocols.
  • Communicates effectively with the Athletic Director and Head Coach regarding team requirements.
  • Ensures that emergency contact information is readily available during practices and games.
  • Demonstrates professionalism in behavior, appearance, and work ethic.
  • Maintains a flexible work schedule to support the school, students, and staff.

Essential Duties:

  • Capable of teaching athletes about effective strategies, skills, and game regulations.
  • Able to inspire student-athletes to excel both individually and as part of a team.
  • Utilizes approved methods of discipline to address inappropriate behavior among students.
  • Possesses expertise and knowledge in the fundamentals of volleyball.
  • Skilled in engaging and motivating student-athletes.
  • Responsible for lifting or transporting athletic gear and supplies.
  • Maintains composure and refrains from inappropriate expressions of frustration.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Current certification in CPR and First Aid.

Experience:

  • Prior coaching experience at the high school level is preferred.
