St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas is seeking candidates for the role of Associate Coach for STUNT and Cheer Programs. This position is designed to assist the head coach in establishing a robust foundation for the NCAA Division II STUNT initiative while fostering a program that embodies the core values and mission of St. Edward's University.

The Associate Coach will play a pivotal role in all facets of the STUNT and Cheer initiatives, contributing to the vision of a program that aspires to achieve remarkable success. Responsibilities include the development and execution of a comprehensive recruitment and retention strategy, promoting student-athlete success across all dimensions of their university experience, and integrating the program within the broader campus community. The role also encompasses supervising practices, managing competitions, and overseeing the resources allocated by the University to support the essential elements of the program, alongside active participation in fundraising efforts to enhance program resources.


Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Physical Education, Education, Fitness, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of coaching experience in stunt, cheer, or gymnastics at the professional, collegiate, or high school level; or three years of participation at the professional or collegiate level.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in recruitment.
  • Proven ability to effectively engage with student-athletes from diverse backgrounds.
  • Familiarity with NCAA, USA Cheer, and Lone Star Conference rules and regulations is essential for compliance.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication, administrative, and organizational skills.
  • A valid, unencumbered driver's license and the capacity to travel locally and nationally.
  • Successful completion of a background check is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the head coach with both coaching and administrative responsibilities for the STUNT and Cheer programs.
  • Support the planning and execution of practice strategies for both teams, including instructing student-athletes in specific techniques.
  • Make tactical decisions during competitions.
  • Travel across the country for competitions and recruitment purposes.
  • Advise student-athletes on their academic progress.
  • Contribute to the overall recruitment strategy, including evaluating and identifying prospective student-athletes and maintaining correspondence with them.
  • Assist in the procurement and organization of equipment.
  • Support camp operations and fundraising initiatives.
  • Oversee team travel while adhering to budgetary constraints.
  • Document and report NCAA-required data to the athletic compliance office.
  • Perform additional administrative duties as assigned.
