Job Summary:

The Diocese of Austin Catholic Schools is seeking a part-time Volleyball Coach for the middle school program. This is a stipend position that will take place from August to October.

Responsibilities:
  • Supports the Mission: The Volleyball Coach will assist in administering the program in a particular sport, adequately preparing the student athlete for league competition.
  • Confidentiality: Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters.
  • Professional Conduct: Models professional conduct and sportsmanship while instilling these characteristics within team members.
  • Scheduling: Schedules practices and games in consultation with the Athletic Director and Assistant Coach(es).
  • Student Safety: Monitors physical condition and fitness of participants and reports injuries to parents and school officials.
  • Supervision: Continually monitors and supervises all activities of the participants at all practices and games.
  • Safety Compliance: Teaches essential safety skills and strategies to student athletes; monitors safety compliance.
  • Policy Adherence: Follows school and diocesan policies regarding safety guidelines.
  • Communication: Communicates with Athletic Director and Assistant Coaches regarding need for early dismissals, field, and gym use.
  • Emergency Contact: Ensures that emergency contact information is available at practices and games.
  • Professionalism: Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits.
  • Availability: Maintains a work schedule that maximizes availability to the school, students, and staff.
Duties:
  • Instruction: Able to instruct athletes about proper strategy, skills, and rules of the game.
  • Motivation: Able to motivate student athletes to perform optimally as an individual athlete and team member.
  • Discipline: Uses approved, corrective, and positive discipline procedures in dealing with inappropriate student conduct.
  • Expertise: Expertise, knowledge, and competency in fundamentals of the sport.
  • Motivation and Engagement: Skill in motivating and engaging student athletes.
  • Lifting and Carrying: Required to lift or carry athletic equipment and supplies.
  • Composure: Required to maintain composure and avoid inappropriate displays of anger.
Requirements:
  • Education: High School or equivalent.
  • Certification: Current CPR certification and First Aid training.
  • Experience: Previous coaching experience required.
