Organizational Coordinator

Melbourne, Florida, United States Schools (Government) Full time

Role Overview

This position operates Monday to Friday starting at 6:30 AM, with flexible finish times based on workload and time allocation.

As a Level 3 role, this position encompasses management responsibilities and accountability for delivering professional support services. The impact of this role extends beyond the immediate work area or professional discipline, requiring collaboration with other staff members and the school community to achieve specific goals in areas such as school administration, operations, or educational initiatives.

While guidance on objectives and targets is provided, the role allows for a degree of autonomy in determining the methods to achieve these goals. However, this autonomy is generally constrained by established procedures and school policies. Any deviations from these standards will necessitate consultation with senior management.

At this level, the role includes business management responsibilities, with a key focus on staff management to meet expected outcomes. Issues related to staff management will typically be resolved independently, although complex cases may require guidance from senior management. Regular reports and advice will be provided to senior management, primarily concerning the immediate work area, service delivery, or educational programs, without significantly affecting overall school operations.

This position is the minimum level for roles that necessitate a mandatory qualification of at least four years. Professional support roles, such as therapists and psychologists, are also characteristic of Level 3, where standard professional services are rendered. Professional guidance and support will be readily available, and any deviations from established procedures and policies will require direction from senior management.

An education support class position aids in delivering educational services to students but must not encompass teaching duties as defined by relevant legislation. Supervision of students is not a requirement unless it is integral to the employee's role or involves oversight of students in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility remains with a teacher.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research, planning, and preparation of development programs for support staff.
  • Facilitate training for school staff in specialized professional support areas, including therapy, social work, and psychological services.
  • Oversee recruitment processes.
  • Provide expert advice to the leadership team regarding support structures and operational practices.
  • Contribute to the development of work practices that uphold occupational health and safety standards.
  • Manage procedures related to employee relations matters.
  • Assist in formulating human resource planning strategies.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates should possess the aptitude, experience, and/or qualifications necessary to meet the specific demands of this position.

Commitment to EEO and OHS

Individuals seeking part-time roles are encouraged to apply for any teaching service position and may request a reduced time fraction if selected. Such requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis, subject to the operational needs of the school.

The Department of Education is dedicated to the principles of equal opportunity, diversity, and inclusion for all. We value diversity in all its forms, including gender, religion, ethnicity, LGBTIQ+, disability, and neurodiversity. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates are strongly encouraged to apply for positions within the Department. We recognize that providing family-friendly, supportive, safe, and harassment-free workplaces is essential for high performance and promotes flexible work, diversity, and safety across all schools and Department workplaces.

Additional support and guidance on the recruitment process are available for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants.

Child Safety Standards

Victorian government schools are committed to being child-safe environments. Our schools actively promote the safety and well-being of all students, and all staff are dedicated to protecting students from abuse or harm in the school setting, in accordance with legal obligations, including child safety standards.

Department Values

Employees of the department commit to upholding the department's Values: Responsiveness, Integrity, Impartiality, Accountability, Respect, Leadership, and Human Rights. These values complement each school's own values and underpin the expected behaviors of Victorian public sector employees, including those working in Victorian Government Schools.
