Organizational Coordinator

Melbourne, Florida, United States Schools (Government) Full time

Position Overview

This role operates Monday to Friday starting at 6:30 AM, with flexible finish times based on workload and time fraction.

At this level, the position entails management responsibilities and accountability for delivering professional support services. The impact of this role extends beyond the immediate work area, requiring collaboration with other staff members and the school community to achieve specific objectives, particularly in areas such as school administration, operations, and educational programs.

While direction on targets and goals is provided, the position allows for a degree of autonomy in determining the methods for achieving these objectives. However, this autonomy is generally constrained by established procedures and school policies. Any deviations from these standards will necessitate guidance from senior management.

The role includes business management responsibilities, emphasizing the management of staff to meet expected outcomes. Staff management issues should be resolved with minimal reference to senior management, although assistance may be sought in more complex situations. Timely reports and advice will be provided to senior management, typically concerning the immediate work area, service provision, or educational programs, without significantly affecting overall school operations.

This position requires a mandatory qualification of no less than four years. Professional support roles, such as therapists and psychologists, are also included at this level, where standard professional services are delivered. Professional guidance will be readily available, and any deviations from established procedures will require senior management's direction.

An education support class position is designed to enhance the educational services provided to students but does not include teaching duties as defined by relevant legislation. Supervision of students is not a requirement unless it is an integral part of the role or involves individual or small group supervision in controlled circumstances, where the teacher retains overall responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research, planning, and preparation of development programs for support staff.
  • Deliver training to school staff in specialized professional support areas, including therapy, social work, and psychological services.
  • Oversee recruitment processes.
  • Provide expert advice to the leadership team regarding support structures and operational practices.
  • Contribute to the development of work practices that uphold occupational health and safety standards.
  • Manage procedures related to employee relations matters.
  • Assist in the formulation of human resource planning strategies.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates should possess the aptitude, experience, and/or qualifications necessary to meet the specific requirements of this position.

Commitment to EEO and OHS

Individuals seeking part-time roles are encouraged to apply for any teaching service position and may request a reduced time fraction if selected. Such requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, considering the operational needs of the school.

The Department of Education is dedicated to the principles of equal opportunity, diversity, and inclusion for all. We value diversity in all its forms, including gender, religion, ethnicity, LGBTIQ+, disability, and neurodiversity. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates are strongly encouraged to apply for positions within the Department. We recognize that providing family-friendly, supportive, safe, and harassment-free workplaces is essential for high performance and promote flexible work arrangements, diversity, and safety across all schools and Department workplaces. Reasonable adjustments for individuals with disabilities will be made as needed.

Child Safety Standards

Victorian government schools are committed to being child-safe environments. Our schools actively promote the safety and well-being of all students, and all staff are dedicated to protecting students from abuse or harm in the school environment, in accordance with legal obligations, including child safety standards. All schools have a Child Safety Code of Conduct consistent with departmental guidelines.

Department Values

Employees of the department commit to upholding the department's values: Responsiveness, Integrity, Impartiality, Accountability, Respect, Leadership, and Human Rights. These values complement each school's own values and underpin the behaviors expected of Victorian public sector employees, including those working in Victorian Government Schools.
