Position Summary

We are looking for a proficient and seasoned Financial Operations Manager to become an integral part of our dynamic real estate property management division. This role is crucial for overseeing financial operations, ensuring precision, compliance, and providing strategic financial insights to bolster our growth and success in the real estate sector.

Classification: Exempt; overtime not eligible

Work Schedule: Hybrid - 3 Days in office / 2 Days remote

Key Responsibilities

The essential functions of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Overseeing all facets of financial reporting, which encompasses monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Monitoring cash flow, accounts, and other financial transactions to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to established policies and procedures.
  • Coordinating financial forecasting and variance analysis to facilitate strategic decision-making by identifying trends, opportunities, and risks to enhance financial performance.
  • Conducting targeted financial analyses to support operational and strategic initiatives.
  • Designing and maintaining budgets for managed properties.
  • Developing and implementing departmental procedures, processes, and systems to meet both immediate and long-term objectives.
  • Supervising and mentoring accounting personnel, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Evaluating and refining accounting systems and processes to optimize operations and enhance efficiency.
  • Assessing and implementing internal controls to protect assets and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Collaborating with senior leadership to identify and adopt software tools that facilitate operational efficiencies and process improvements.
  • Providing guidance and support to property management teams on financial matters through effective communication.
  • Working alongside senior management and asset management teams to formulate financial strategies that align with organizational goals.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; an advanced degree or CPA is preferred.
  • A minimum of 7 years of proven experience in accounting or financial management, with at least 4 years in residential real estate property management (experience in affordable housing is preferred).
  • Progressive experience in roles such as Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, or Controller.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Experience with property management software (Yardi) and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to build relationships across all organizational levels.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making abilities, with a capacity to train, manage, and motivate staff.
