Mental Health Support Coordinator

New Directions for Veterans is seeking a compassionate and highly skilled Mental Health Support Coordinator to join our team. As a member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting veterans with mental health challenges, connecting them with community resources and services that promote recovery and well-being.

Job Summary

The Mental Health Support Coordinator will work closely with veterans, family members, and healthcare providers to develop and implement personalized support plans. These plans will focus on promoting mental health, reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression, and enhancing overall quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough assessments of each veteran's needs and goals, identifying areas for improvement and developing targeted interventions.
  • Provide one-on-one support and guidance to veterans, helping them access community resources and services that promote healthy living.
  • Facilitate group sessions and workshops, focusing on topics such as coping skills, stress management, and nutrition.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and other organizations to ensure a comprehensive approach to care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as social work, psychology, or counseling.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with vulnerable populations, preferably veterans.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and groups.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
