Job Summary

We are seeking a Business Development Lead to join our growing Resources Business Group in the New York/New Jersey Area. This role will be responsible for coordinating, overseeing, and owning HDR's marketing programs and initiatives in the Power, Waste, and Industrial markets.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Leverage industry experience and HDR's technical expertise to identify integrated solutions that create a clear benefit for clients.
  2. Work with the local team and company leadership to drive top-line growth through establishment of new clients and increasing the volume and scope of services to existing clients.
  3. Leverage experience and personal networks to work with clients to create opportunities to deliver and lead business development activities through proposal and negotiation, culminating in new contract agreements.
  4. Lead and drive the team in capturing and maintaining current knowledge of client needs, plans, and drivers on an as-needed basis to track and proactively capture contracts and projects.
  5. Demonstrate ownership of effective marketing programs, including monitoring of budgets and progress on annual goals.
  6. Collaborate with Resources leadership and marketing support teams to develop proposals, communications, marketing materials, and brand awareness of our Resources service offerings.
  7. Client management for select clients.
  8. Track and trend the local and sector business environment through client relationships and industry involvement.
  9. Identify and team with strategic business partners for key pursuits.
  10. Assist in prioritizing strategic hires, identification, and recruiting of candidates for near- and long-term HDR success.
Requirements

We are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering, Business, or closely related technical field. The ideal candidate will have 10 years of progressive experience in a role focused on understanding and solving client issues in the Power, Industrial, and/or Waste markets.

Existing and current networks of private clients with an emphasis on NY/NJ-based clients, including utilities, municipalities, industrial, waste, and/or institutional clients, are highly desirable.

Excellent marketing and business development skills, with a demonstrated history of successful leadership of major BD strategies and ability to establish new business relationships and close business deals, are essential.

Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, with outstanding written and verbal communication skills, strong leadership, planning, organization, and listening skills, and a proven ability to develop and maintain clients in the consulting industry are also required.

A track record of working cooperatively with diverse teams, regional/area leadership, technical managers, and project staff, and a commitment to quality, improvement, and HDR values are highly valued.
