POSITION TITLE: Receptionist and Client Services Coordinator
LOCATION/DEPT: Harbor Light
REPORTS TO: Resident Manager
FLSA CATEGORY: Non-Exempt

DEPARTMENT MISSION
To lead with integrity by implementing policies, procedures, and available resources to assist the Harbor Light Center in fulfilling the mission of The Salvation Army.
PROGRAM/CLIENT ENVIRONMENT
The clientele served by The Harbor Light Program may exhibit a range of challenging behaviors. Employees are expected to respond appropriately within the context of the treatment environment. Professional conduct, including attire and communication, must align with the facility's therapeutic atmosphere.
OUTCOMES
The Receptionist and Client Services Coordinator ensures general support and security for the facility and the residential department, contributing to a safe and welcoming living environment for clients.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Answering phone calls in a courteous and professional manner, directing them to the appropriate department, employee, or client.
- Conducting daily wellness checks on senior residents and those on medication, ensuring their well-being at the start of each shift.
- Controlling access to the Harbor Light facility, greeting and seating approved guests and visitors in the lobby, and notifying employees and clients of their arrivals.
- Maintaining room keys and alerting the Resident Manager if a client enters the facility under the influence of substances.
- Following established emergency response procedures when necessary.
- Delivering mail and messages to clients and updating the rolodex directory as changes occur.
- Redirecting inquiries about admission criteria to the Intake department, as the desk clerk is not authorized to provide this information.
- Performing any additional duties as assigned.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
This position reports directly to the Resident Manager and acts as a representative of The Salvation Army and its mission in all related duties.
PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS
Evaluation will be based on the effectiveness of achieving the outcomes of this position, as well as the timeliness, accuracy, and completeness of assigned tasks.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Preferred experience in a residential treatment program setting.
- Experience with phone switchboard operations is preferred.
- A minimum of one year of sobriety is required.

POSITION LIMITATIONS
- This individual will only commit resources that have been allocated or approved.
- Keeping the Resident Manager informed on all critical issues related to their responsibilities is essential.
- Adherence to all policies and procedures is required in carrying out the responsibilities of this position.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
- This position requires light physical activity, including the ability to walk up two flights of stairs and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Regular use of standard office equipment and computers is necessary to perform essential functions.
- The work environment is primarily office-based with a low noise level.
- Must be able to work effectively with clients who may have poor social skills, mental health challenges, or substance abuse issues.
