SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

The Culinary Specialist is tasked with the preparation of exceptional food in a prompt, efficient, sanitary, and consistent manner. This role requires the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure kitchen environment while maintaining the organizational skills necessary to execute job responsibilities swiftly and effectively. The Culinary Specialist must work collaboratively as part of a dynamic team, adhere to all safety protocols, and possess a high tolerance for heat in the kitchen.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for daily food preparation tasks in the kitchen.
  • Set up workstations according to the Chef de Cuisine's specifications.
  • Prepare all food items as directed, ensuring sanitation and timeliness.
  • Follow recipes, portion controls, and presentation standards established by the Chef de Cuisine.
  • Restock supplies as necessary throughout the shift.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workstation while practicing good safety and sanitation protocols.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in using and maintaining all kitchen equipment.
  • Assist in the cleaning, sanitation, and organization of the kitchen, walk-in coolers, and storage areas.
  • Perform additional tasks as requested by the Chef de Cuisine and Food & Beverage Director.
  • Prepare meals for customers with dietary restrictions.
  • Ensure food quality and safety by adhering to standard sanitary practices, including sweeping floors and cleaning surfaces.
  • Work efficiently and consistently to meet meal preparation timelines.
  • Prepare appropriate quantities of food to meet daily demands.
  • Utilize kitchen equipment effectively during food preparation.
  • Stay productive and prepare for future needs as time allows.
  • Exhibit flexibility and volunteer to cover shifts as staffing needs change.
  • Report accidents and incidents following proper procedures to ensure safety and prevention.
  • Comply with all regulations regarding safety and sanitation.
  • Serve food in the correct portion sizes and at the appropriate temperatures.
  • Report any violations of food service policies and procedures.
  • Arrive on time for scheduled shifts.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 1 year of cooking experience required.
  • Knowledge of food trends, quality standards, sanitation practices, and food cost control.
  • Understanding of food service methods and safe food handling principles.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Strong teamwork skills and attention to detail.
  • Superior time management and multitasking abilities.
  • Strong problem identification and resolution skills.
  • Positive work ethic and team-oriented attitude.

EDUCATION:

  • Associate's degree in business, management, hospitality, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Culinary school certification preferred.
  • Food Handler's certification required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Able to stoop, kneel, bend, and reach regularly.
  • Able to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Regular and punctual attendance is essential.
  • Hours may exceed 40 hours per week, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods during shifts.
