Job Overview
As a key member of the GE Energy Consulting team, the Principal Engineer will spearhead consulting and advisory services across the electric power sector, while also supporting various GE business initiatives related to power systems technology and services.

Role and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:

  • Lead consulting engagements in Power Economics, driving business development and managing project teams for both internal and external clients.
  • Identify and nurture new client relationships and business opportunities.
  • Represent GE Energy Consulting's capabilities in cross-business discussions to enhance the microgrid and Distributed Energy Resources (DER) business development pipeline.
  • Deliver presentations to customers and industry stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Managing Directors and Team Managers to formulate business strategies aimed at expanding consulting services in critical areas such as reliability, decarbonization, and transmission/distribution.
  • Effectively communicate findings to both internal and external stakeholders through detailed reports and presentations.
  • Proactively pursue new opportunities by responding to Requests for Proposals from grid operators, utilities, developers, and other industry participants.
  • Support GE businesses and clients in contractual service agreements, transactional services, new unit sales, and initiatives addressing utility business model challenges and decarbonization efforts.
  • Engage in industry forums to advocate for GE and its Energy Consulting services.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Economics, or Business Administration from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in electric power systems engineering, energy market design, generation/transmission planning, wholesale power trading, or energy market consulting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the distribution sector, particularly in DER and microgrid development.

Preferred Qualifications
Additional desirable qualifications include:

  • A Master's Degree or PhD in engineering, business administration, economics, or computer science.
  • Experience with DER/microgrid software tools and power system simulation tools.
  • A strong industry reputation with published works and presentations in relevant forums.
  • Programming skills in languages such as Python or MATLAB.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication skills for presenting analytical findings to diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong technical writing abilities for proposals and reports.
