Technical Retail Support Specialist

firstPRO, Inc is in search of a proficient and committed Retail Support Technician to enhance our client's operations in South New Jersey. This position demands a comprehensive understanding of technology utilization among clientele, along with robust technical skills in diagnosing and assisting computer systems. The candidate should thrive in a dynamic, nationwide environment.
The successful applicant will possess at least 3 years of experience in desktop support or retail systems assistance, showcasing expertise in Windows operating systems, PC deployments, Ricoh printing devices, and fundamental networking. The ability to operate autonomously with minimal oversight is essential, and candidates should be prepared for travel requirements of up to 35%.
Key Responsibilities
- Employ advanced technical abilities to assist and resolve issues related to computer systems, hardware, and software for clients.
- Work collaboratively with IT professionals and business partners to pinpoint enhancements and optimize IT services.
- Facilitate the introduction of new retail technologies by applying knowledge across various technical domains.
- Oversee PC and peripheral upgrades at remote sites.
- Manage the installation of PinPads and other credit card processing technologies.
- Support IP and domain transitions.
- Assist IT leadership and senior technical personnel in formulating departmental protocols and operational procedures.
- Deliver prompt status updates to end users and IT staff during issue resolution.
- Engage in special projects or tasks aimed at enhancing systems and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with vendors to generate quotes, obtain approvals, and streamline the acquisition of equipment, software, solutions, and consulting services in accordance with established requirements and best practices.
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of experience in desktop support or retail systems assistance (e.g., credit card processing systems, POS devices, peripherals).
- Proficient in Windows operating systems, PC deployments, Ricoh printers, and basic networking (routers, switches, cabling). A mid-expert level of technical proficiency is required.
- Ability to work independently with minimal daily supervision.
- Willingness to travel up to 35%.
- Capability to collaborate effectively with remote teams across various time zones and locations.
- Strong communication skills: Excellent presentation and interpersonal abilities, encompassing both written and verbal communication.
- Flexibility to work occasional weekends and off-hours as necessary for project completion or urgent issue resolution.
- Physical capability to stand, walk, or sit for extended durations; bend, stoop, and maneuver to access wiring, computers, or network equipment; occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and frequently lift up to 10 pounds.
