Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Accounting Specialist to join our team at Duke University. This role will provide financial support for university, endowment, and grant funds associated with designated International Area Studies (IAS) centers and the Franklin Center.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in complex accounting tasks, including financial record maintenance, data processing, and reconciliation.
  • Prepare and submit personnel and payroll actions in support of IAS centers and the Franklin Center.
  • Work with staff across centers to support business functions.
  • Support visitors to the Franklin Center, rotating schedules with other Business Office staff.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles, typically acquired through two years of post-secondary education in accounting or a related business field.
  • Three years of experience in an accounting setting, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Excellent accounting and analytical skills, combined with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Duke accounting and personnel systems (SAP/R3 and WORKS).
