Position: Manufacturing Engineering Lead

Location: Mapleton, IL

The Mapleton Foundry stands as one of the largest facilities in the United States, featuring the world's most extensive core-making machinery. Working in this environment requires diligence, a focus on safety, quality, and a commitment to supporting our clients in their mission to build a better world. We seek an inspiring leader capable of overseeing manufacturing engineering capabilities and guiding the establishment of essential requirements for efficient machining and assembly operations. This role is integral to the Advanced Planning Engineering Team, encompassing responsibilities for capital investments, facility layouts, machinery relocations, and the installation of new equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, direction, and vision for the Advanced Planning Team serving Mapleton Machining and Assembly.
  • Collaborate with product development leaders on future strategies for New Product Introduction (NPI) while aligning with facility-wide safety initiatives.
  • Identify and drive significant improvement opportunities, integrating modern technology into the facility's architecture in conjunction with other investments.
  • Offer expertise in executing substantial investments, utilizing new capital introduction processes (NCI) with accountability for forecasting and capital governance.

Educational Background:

A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience is preferred.

Experience Requirements:

Proven experience in managing teams and overseeing large capital investments within manufacturing environments.

Skill Requirements:

Capital Planning & Management: Proficient in tools and methodologies for developing and leading large-scale capital projects. Responsible for interpreting and applying safety standards in manufacturing processes.

Critical Thinking & Communication: Capable of accurately assessing situations and making informed decisions; effective in listening and communicating to influence outcomes.

Manufacturing Equipment & Processes: Knowledgeable about the electrical, mechanical, controls, and logistics systems utilized in contemporary machining and assembly; experienced in integrating and automating these systems into production.

Judgment and Decision Making: Skilled in evaluating the impact of emerging business scenarios and selecting the optimal course of action to enhance organizational performance.

Lean Manufacturing: Familiar with the principles and implementation strategies of lean manufacturing; adept at integrating lean philosophies into production and management processes.
