Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Senior Cloud Solutions Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and enhancement of intricate Big-Data Cloud systems based on established specifications. This role involves significant contributions across all phases of back-end processing, including analysis and indexing of data. The engineer will leverage expertise in Cloud Computing and the Hadoop Ecosystem, focusing on the implementation of Java applications, Distributed Computing, and Information Retrieval (IR) methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in all aspects of software development, ensuring adherence to design specifications and performing rigorous testing of software components.
  • Diagnose and resolve software issues, utilizing appropriate software development methodologies tailored to the specific environment.
  • Provide valuable insights into system design, including hardware/software trade-offs and the potential for software reuse.
  • Analyze and synthesize requirements from a system-wide perspective down to individual software components.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of twelve (12) years of software engineering experience in similar programs and contracts is essential. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field from an accredited institution is required; four (4) years of this experience must involve Big-Data cloud technologies and/or Distributed Computing.
  • Substitutions for educational qualifications include: four (4) years of cloud software engineering experience on relevant projects may replace a Bachelor’s degree; a Master’s degree may substitute for two (2) years of experience; Cloudera Certified Hadoop Developer certification may replace one (1) year of Cloud experience.

Specific Experience Required:

  • Two (2) years of experience in Cloud and/or Distributed Computing Information Retrieval (IR).
  • Proficiency in implementing code that interacts with Cloud Big Table and Cloud Distributed File System.
  • Experience in developing complex MapReduce analytics and working with Cloud Distributed Coordination Frameworks.
  • Expertise in architecting Cloud Computing solutions and debugging issues within Cloud-based Distributed Computing Frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience in managing multi-node Cloud installations and familiarity with Utility Computing, Network Management, and Virtualization technologies.
  • Knowledge of securing Cloud-based applications through industry-standard techniques, including Firewalls and PKI Certificate Authentication.
  • Proficient in Object Oriented Design and Programming, with experience in Java, Eclipse, MAVEN, and RESTful web services.
  • Familiarity with various Cloud and Distributed Computing technologies such as YARN, J2EE, MapReduce, Zookeeper, HDFS, HBase, and others.
  • Experience in ingesting, parsing, and analyzing diverse data formats including XML, JSON, CSV, and Avro.
  • Understanding of debugging and profiling Cloud installations, particularly in Java Virtual Machine (JVM) memory management.
