The Cloud Engineer is responsible for conducting requirements analysis and developing high-level system architectures to create specifications for installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting. This role involves guiding users in defining their needs, suggesting alternative solutions, and performing feasibility studies. The engineer will provide technical leadership for the integration of requirements, design, and technology within a cloud framework.
The position includes setting up, configuring, and installing software for development, testing, and production environments. Direct interaction with the development team and system end-users is essential. The engineer will review and assess infrastructure components to ensure compliance with design specifications and document testing outcomes. Additionally, the role involves resolving reported system issues and applying infrastructure/cloud engineering methodologies suitable for various environments.
Key Responsibilities• Conduct requirements analysis, software development, installation, integration, evaluation, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Adapt software and algorithms originally designed for traditional environments to function effectively in cloud settings.
• Provide support for platforms and services utilizing Amazon Web Services (AWS) or other commercial cloud hosting solutions.
• Assist in transitioning operational systems and applications from traditional infrastructures to cloud environments.
• Support cloud-related data management tools and OpenSource (NoSQL) products, including Hbase, CloudBase/Acumulo, and Big Table.
• Facilitate the deployment of operational systems and applications within a cloud context.
• Perform scalability assessments of cloud-related algorithms, applications, and systems to identify performance bottlenecks and improvement opportunities.
• Possess eight (8) years of experience in software development/engineering within similar programs and contracts. Four (4) years of experience in software development utilizing cloud technologies is required. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred; however, four (4) additional years of relevant experience may substitute for the degree.
