The City of Georgetown is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Police Officer to join our team. As a Police Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining public safety and order, enforcing laws and regulations, and providing exceptional service to our community.
Key Responsibilities- Law Enforcement and Public Safety: Enforce all federal and state laws and City ordinances, perform routine patrol duties, and respond to emergency calls and public requests for assistance.
- Traffic Enforcement and Investigation: Execute traffic enforcement duties, including issuing traffic tickets and warnings, detecting DUI suspects, and assisting with accident reconstruction and investigations.
- Criminal Investigations and Testimony: Assist with criminal investigations, interview witnesses and suspects, gather physical evidence, and testify in court as necessary.
- Community Relations and Outreach: Participate in neighborhood and community relations programs, attend neighborhood meetings, and engage with the community to enhance police-community relationships.
- Equipment Maintenance and Record-Keeping: Maintain assigned equipment and vehicles, and complete general clerical work, including preparing reports and records.
- Education and Certification: High School Diploma supplemented by completion of the SCCJA Class 1 officer certification.
- Driver's License and Firearms Training: Valid South Carolina Driver's License and ability to use a firearm.
The Police Officer position requires medium-to-heavy work that involves walking, standing, running, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting, pushing, or pulling objects. The position also requires frequent time pressures, performing multiple tasks simultaneously, and working closely with others as part of a team.
