POSITION SUMMARY:

The Assistant Supervisor of Slope Maintenance is a seasonal role that plays a crucial part in leading and managing the winter staff and operations within the Slope Maintenance Department. This team is dedicated to the upkeep of ski slopes, base areas, and parking facilities, while also providing support to other departments requiring heavy equipment and manual labor assistance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The responsibilities of the Assistant Supervisor of Slope Maintenance include, but are not limited to:

  • Exemplifying effective leadership in alignment with departmental and company policies, ensuring adherence to PowderMonarch's mission to deliver a quality, personalized mountain experience.
  • Assisting with all necessary documentation, tracking, and verifications to ensure timely and accurate completion of requests, training, payroll, and other administrative tasks.
  • Supporting the Supervisor in the recruitment of top-tier staff for the department.
  • Coordinating staff schedules to ensure optimal coverage of departmental functions and adjusting as needed to meet actual requirements.
  • Facilitating initial and ongoing training for team members in a supportive and constructive manner.
  • Providing timely feedback to the Supervisor regarding employee performance and contributing to the development of performance evaluations.
  • Monitoring budgetary constraints and providing input for future budget proposals.
  • Collaborating with other departments to foster a cohesive team environment.
  • Assisting in the creation and maintenance of training materials, manuals, and other essential documents for departmental success.
  • Preparing for and overseeing department personnel during emergencies as directed by the supervisor.
  • Delivering professional solutions and courteous assistance in resolving issues for both guests and staff.
  • Monitoring and maintaining the inventory and condition of departmental supplies and facilities.
  • Overseeing daily grooming operations and communicating relevant updates to management.
  • Ensuring accurate logging and reporting of groomed runs on a nightly basis.
  • Coordinating machine maintenance and repairs with the Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Ensuring compliance with local, state, federal, and USFS regulations, maintaining appropriate records.
  • Participating in relevant conferences and workshops as requested.
  • Performing the duties of Slope Maintenance staff as necessary.
  • Attending off-site training and seminars as required.
  • Carrying out other assigned duties as needed.

PERSONAL QUALITIES:

  • Proficient in operating snowcats, loaders, bobcats, and winch cats.
  • Advanced skiing or riding ability.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work well with guests and colleagues.
  • Clear and pleasant communication skills in English.
  • Ability to follow directions and procedures effectively.
  • Capable of training others in a respectful manner.
  • Adept at recognizing and responding to situational needs.
  • Strong English reading and writing skills.
  • Competent in computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
  • High awareness of safety and liability related to heavy equipment operations.
  • Flexible availability for various shifts, including weekends and holidays.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum age: 21.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • High School diploma or GED required; a degree in recreation, administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience operating snowcats and heavy machinery is essential.
  • Ability to navigate uneven terrain while carrying up to 30 lbs.
  • Physical capability to perform heavy lifting and shoveling regularly.
  • Experience with power tools and construction knowledge is preferred.
  • Ability to work at high elevations and endure adverse weather conditions.

POSITION TYPE: Seasonal, Full Time (Part Time in October)

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

  • Starting compensation at $25.00 per hour, adjusted based on experience.
