Overview
The Nursing Operations Manager is accountable for overseeing the management, guidance, and scheduling of Registered Nurses (RNs) and Nurse Assistants (NAs), ensuring the delivery of high-quality nursing care for patients. This includes responsibilities such as patient assessment, treatment planning, care coordination, and evaluation of care outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Directs RNs and NAs to provide exceptional, confidential, and compliant clinical nursing services.
- Manages the scheduling and supervision of nursing staff.
- Recruits and trains RNs and NAs, coordinating with staffing agencies as necessary.
- Delivers direct patient care and coordinates services to address client needs.
- Administers prescribed medications and provides training on medication administration.
- Ensures quality control for electronic health record documentation, including daily nursing notes and vital signs.
- Conducts audits of patient charts and medication records.
- Acts as a liaison between medical and behavioral health teams.
- Serves as a primary resource for staff in resolving patient-related issues.
- Assists in the development and implementation of regulatory-compliant policies, procedures, and quality assurance plans.
- Maintains clinical skills to provide direct patient care.
- Participates in multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient care processes and outcomes.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
- Availability for two scheduled floor shifts (12 hours each) weekly, in addition to administrative responsibilities.
- On-call duties including RN coverage and quality control responses, with the ability to respond promptly.
- Oversees Registered Nurses, Nurse Assistants, and Contract Nursing Staff.
- In-depth understanding of nursing theory, healthcare regulations, and best practices.
- Familiarity with nursing processes and healthcare systems.
- Knowledge of healthcare technology and medical supplies.
- Awareness of state laws regarding nursing care and clinic policies.
- Understanding of documentation requirements for medical records.
- Knowledge of laws governing the release of healthcare information.
- Awareness of safety hazards and precautions to ensure a safe working environment.
- Proficiency in applying nursing principles and techniques for ongoing patient care.
- Strong skills in time management, problem-solving, and care coordination.
- Ability to initiate crisis interventions and respond to emergencies.
- Competence in patient triage, both in-person and via phone.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and write reports.
- Strong initiative, judgment, and decision-making skills.
- Capability to analyze options and counsel patients and families.
- Ability to engage clients and families in care plan development.
- Proficiency in interpreting physician orders and notes from other providers.
- Ability to manage nursing services and foster collaboration among staff.

- Proficiency in calculating and administering medication dosages.
- Commitment to maintaining quality control standards.

- Registered Nurse (RN) degree from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
- Current state RN license.
- Current CPR certification.
- A minimum of three years of professional nursing experience, preferably in outpatient settings with mental health and substance abuse populations.
