Position Overview

Salary Range:
The compensation for this role is between $370,000 and $800,000. The established salary scales determine the minimum pay based on rank and step at appointment.

This role includes participation in the health sciences compensation plan, which allows for eligibility for additional remuneration.

Position Description

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of California, Irvine, is actively seeking board eligible/certified orthopaedic surgeons across all ranks in the non-tenure track Health Sciences Clinical Professor series (Assistant, Associate, and/or Full Professor levels) as well as all ranks in the Professor of Clinical "X" Series (Assistant, Associate and/or Full Professor levels) in various specialties. Candidates must possess an MD or MD/Ph.D. degree(s) and be eligible for California Medical Licensure. Compensation will be aligned with experience and qualifications.

Specialties include:

* Hand and Upper Extremity

* Sports Medicine

Successful candidates will be expected to engage in the education of orthopaedic residents and medical students, exhibit professional excellence, demonstrate academic accomplishments, and contribute to University and public service. Additionally, the successful candidates will participate in on-call duties at our Level 1 Trauma Center. UCI Orthopaedic Surgery provides clinical services at multiple locations throughout the region, and UCI Health is in the process of developing a new medical campus that will feature a significant portion of elective orthopedic services in a modern, multidisciplinary ambulatory and inpatient center.

Criteria for the Professor of Clinical "X" Series: The incumbent will be expected to conduct significant research; provide patient care; educate fellows, residents, and medical students; and engage in public and University service. Exceptional teaching is a critical criterion for appointment in this series.

Criteria for the Health Sciences Clinical Professor Series: The incumbent will be expected to educate fellows, residents, and medical students; provide patient care; contribute to scholarly activities; and engage in public and University service.

Qualifications:

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Candidate must hold an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree(s) and be eligible for California Licensure; Orthopaedic Board eligible/certified.
