MIDCONTINENT INDEPENDENT SYSTEM OPERATOR INC provides a comprehensive benefits package available from the first day of employment.
Location: Remote options available.
Are you an engineer eager to engage in the administration and enhancement of an energy market that facilitates transactions worth billions annually?
Do you possess a passion for tackling intricate challenges, market economics, congestion management, power flow analysis, forecasting, automating processes, and evaluating market dynamics to maintain a robust and efficient Financial Transmission Rights (FTR) market?
Does the prospect of contributing to a company that influences the energy supply for over 45 million individuals excite you?
If your answer is yes, continue reading...
Key ResponsibilitiesAs the Principal Engineer for Market Congestion Management, you will play a vital role in ensuring the effective and equitable operation of the Financial Transmission Rights Market, aligning with our vision of being the most reliable and value-driven Regional Transmission Operator (RTO).
In this role, you will collaborate with various departments within the organization, including modeling, planning, outage coordination, credit, settlements, and operations teams. Your efforts will support the administration of an energy market that offers a hedge against the fluctuations in transmission congestion charges faced by load-serving entities in the Day-Ahead Energy and Operating Reserves Market.
You will also engage in diverse projects, ranging from process automation to implementing innovative changes that ensure the continued value of the MISO Financial Transmission Rights Market as renewable energy sources are increasingly integrated into the grid.
Success MetricsWithin your first year, you will know you have succeeded if:
- You effectively manage existing processes, such as validating and analyzing models to independently conduct a Financial Transmission Rights monthly auction.
- You work collaboratively with others to implement process enhancements and transformative initiatives.
We seek dedicated engineers with a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in one of the following fields:
- Electrical Engineering
- Computer Engineering
- Electrical Engineering Technology
- Electrical and Computer Engineering
- Electrical and Electronic Engineering
- Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology
Our ideal candidate will have at least four years of relevant experience and preferably possess:
- Experience in power flow analysis and congestion forecasting.
- Knowledge of energy or Financial Transmission Rights market design, operations, or trading.
- Related experience in power system operations.
- Skills in programming, automation, and data analytics.
The appropriate level for this position will be determined based on experience and expertise.
