Role Summary:

The Director of Communications and Marketing will be integral to the communication strategies for the George Washington University Law School, aligning with the broader marketing and communication objectives of the institution. This role encompasses the oversight, enhancement, and expansion of the school's communication platforms, such as the website, social media, newsletters, and print materials, ensuring they align with the overarching marketing strategy.

The Director will collaborate with law school leadership to adapt and implement best practices in communication and marketing. Reporting to the Vice President of Communications and Marketing, this position also maintains accountability to the Dean of the Law School.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and execute a comprehensive strategy to bolster the school's reputation.
  • Oversee and manage key communication channels.
  • Direct website development and maintenance.
  • Foster partnerships across various university departments to ensure a unified communication approach.
  • Coordinate with external partners and stakeholders.
  • Lead marketing and communication efforts across diverse platforms.
  • Conduct reporting and analysis of communication strategies.
  • Manage media relations and crisis communication.
  • Support internal communication initiatives.
  • Assist the Dean with communication needs.
  • Provide leadership in event communication strategies.
  • Oversee production of print and digital publications.
  • Develop marketing strategies for admissions communications.
  • Collaborate on alumni and development communication efforts.

Additional Information:

This position may include other related duties as assigned. The absence of specific tasks does not prevent the supervisor from assigning responsibilities that are logically associated with the role.

Qualifications:

Ideal candidates will possess a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field along with 8 years of pertinent professional experience, or a Master's degree in a related area plus 6 years of relevant experience. Educational qualifications must be conferred by the start date of employment. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.
