Job Title: Chief Market Conduct Examiner

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Market Conduct Examiner to join our team at the Office of the Insurance Commissioner (OIC). As a key member of our Market Examinations Unit, you will be responsible for leading a team of professionals in conducting market conduct examinations and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

About the Role:
  • Provide daily supervision and oversight to a team of eight Market Conduct Examiners and one Administrative Assistant.
  • Conduct job analysis and identify duties for subordinate job descriptions.
  • Oversee all market conduct continuum activities and provide guidance and direction on market issues.
  • Coordinate with HR and Program Manager to develop and manage recruitment and selection processes.
  • Monitor progress of each Analyst's open files and focus on continuous process improvement and project management.
  • Develop performance expectations and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Assign, plan, instruct, and check the work of assigned staff.
  • Determine and adjust schedules for assigned staff.
  • Ensure that continuums are completed within required timeframes.
  • Participate in NAIC and regulatory workgroups.
  • Oversee updates to the NAIC's Market Action Tracking System (MATS).
  • Track and ensure that all carrier reporting to the Market Conduct Unit is done timely.
Requirements:
  • Seven years of insurance experience through a combination of degree completion and/or working in the insurance industry in an operational area such as underwriting, claims, internal audit, or customer service.
  • Intermediate level Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two years of supervisory experience working with varied levels of employees, including oversight of training programs for new employees.
  • Understanding of the insurance industry, hands-on familiarity with insurance company operations.
  • Intermediate level knowledge of TeamMate software.
  • Related insurance industry designations such as AIE, CIE, FLMI, CLU, CPCU, MCM, AIRC, or currently taking classes to achieve a related designation.
  • Three years of regulatory experience in a similar position and in a similar unit.
