COLLIERS SECURITIES operates as a registered broker-dealer, delivering underwriting, financial advisory, and securities brokerage services to a diverse clientele, including individuals, institutions, corporations, and government entities, primarily in the Midwest region of the United States. As an introducing broker-dealer, we execute all customer and proprietary transactions through another broker-dealer on a fully disclosed basis.

POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting directly to the CFO, the Financial Controller is tasked with ensuring the integrity of accounting and financial data for the broker-dealer, adhering to GAAP, FINRA, MSRB, and SEC regulations. Responsibilities encompass overseeing the accounting team, preparing financial reports, conducting monthly and annual regulatory submissions, performing financial analysis, managing the annual audit process, maintaining effective SOX controls, reporting to the parent company, and driving special projects and process enhancements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead, manage, and execute all routine accounting operations, including month-end close, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare regulatory submissions and audited financial statements, including FOCUS reports and supplementary filings.
  • Conduct regular Net Capital Computation, including assessments on securities.
  • Thoroughly review monthly commission and incentive calculations and disbursements.
  • Supervise and oversee payroll operations.
  • Manage invoicing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and compensation plans.
  • Assess accounting treatment for new transactions, products, or regulatory pronouncements.
  • Compile quarterly reports and analyses for the parent company.
  • Coordinate annual audits with both internal and external auditors.
  • Provide essential financial insights to management to support informed decision-making.
  • Contribute to the formulation and execution of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum of 7 years of accounting or related experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is mandatory.
  • CPA designation is preferred.
  • Experience in the broker-dealer or financial services sector is advantageous.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of US GAAP, accounting standards, and guidelines.
  • Familiarity with SEC, FINRA, and MSRB regulations.
  • Understanding of securities industry operations.
  • Proficient in internal controls.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in Excel.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of effective communication across all organizational levels.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities, with a focus on quantitative problem-solving.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize tasks.
JOB EXPECTATIONS
  • Must obtain FINRA Series 27/28 within 120 days of employment.
