Job Summary:

SSM Health is seeking a skilled Laboratory Technician to join our team. As a Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality laboratory services to patients and healthcare providers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform a full range of laboratory tests, from simple blood tests to complex tests, to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of patients.
  • Assess specimens for correct handling and quality, and confirm the accuracy of test results and report findings to physicians.
  • Operate complex electronic equipment, computers, and precision instruments, and perform and evaluate quality control procedures.
  • Perform periodic maintenance and assist with the calibration of instruments, and assist with the proper storage of hazardous materials.
  • Maintain competencies and continuing education to keep informed of new developments in the field, and assist in the proficiency testing program in the lab.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner, and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Physical, or Biological Science.
  • No experience required.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication, and ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, and gripping.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Rare climbing.
