Role Title: Special Operations Planner (Military Activities)

The U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM) requires specialized planning expertise to effectively integrate and synchronize Department of Defense (DoD) military operations with United States Government (USG) strategies. This role involves the development of strategic inputs, campaign plans, and operational concepts that translate overarching strategic goals into actionable plans and operations, in collaboration with various DoD components, USG agencies, allies, coalition partners, and regional stakeholders.

The Special Operations Planner will provide essential strategy, planning, exercises, and policy services tailored to Special Operations.

Location: U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM) Headquarters

Security Clearance Requirement: Top Secret/SCI eligible

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver and apply Special Operations expertise in formulating plans, orders, and CONOPs, ensuring alignment with the USCENTCOM mission and Commander's objectives.
  • Utilize Special Operations knowledge to coordinate planning efforts and synchronize activities across the full spectrum of special operations within joint, multinational, and interagency contexts.
  • Leverage technical expertise and extensive knowledge of Special Operations Forces core missions to advise the USCENTCOM Commander on the effective employment of special operations forces.
  • Employ analytical problem-solving skills to navigate complex operational and strategic challenges, ensuring the synchronization of planning and execution across DoD, Interagency, Allied, Coalition, and multinational special operations within the USCENTCOM Area of Responsibility (AOR).
  • Provide Special Operations expertise to ongoing operations and support additional special activities as required.
  • Oversee the coordination of FOIA requests and Mandatory Declassification Reviews (MDRs) in accordance with legal standards governing the processing, declassification, and release of information from designated USCENTCOM files.
  • Advise on the FOIA and MDR Program in alignment with USCENTCOM directives to ensure the safeguarding of plans and orders.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Graduate of the Special Operations Planning Course (SOPC).
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in Special Operations.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a Joint or Combined Command Headquarters.
  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Prior experience with USCENTCOM is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Must possess TS/SCI eligible clearance.
