Position Title: Special Operations Planner (Military Activities)

Located at U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM), this position focuses on the integration and synchronization of Department of Defense (DoD) military operations with United States Government (USG) strategies. Responsibilities include the development of strategic inputs, campaign plans, and operational concepts that translate overarching objectives into actionable activities in collaboration with various DoD components, USG agencies, allies, coalition partners, and regional stakeholders.

The Special Operations Planner will deliver strategic insights, planning expertise, and policy guidance tailored to Special Operations.

Location: U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM) Headquarters

Security Clearance Level: Top Secret/SCI eligible

Key Responsibilities

  • Leverage Special Operations expertise to assist in the formulation of plans, orders, and CONOPs, ensuring alignment with USCENTCOM mission objectives and Commander's priorities.
  • Provide specialized knowledge in planning and coordination, synchronizing efforts that support a comprehensive range of special operations across joint, multinational, and interagency environments.
  • Utilize technical acumen and extensive knowledge of Special Operations Forces core missions to advise the USCENTCOM Commander on the effective employment of special operations forces.
  • Employ analytical problem-solving skills to navigate complex operational and strategic challenges, ensuring the synchronization of planning and execution across DoD elements, Interagency (IA), Allied, Coalition, and multinational special operations activities.
  • Offer Special Operations expertise to current operations and support additional special activities as required.
  • Coordinate Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests and Mandatory Declassification Reviews (MDRs) in accordance with legal standards governing the processing and release of information.
  • Advise on the FOIA and MDR Program to ensure compliance with directives and safeguard plans and orders.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of the Special Operations Planning Course (SOPC).
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in Special Operations.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a Joint or Combined Command Headquarters.
  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Prior experience with USCENTCOM is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Must possess TS/SCI eligible clearance.
