Position Overview:

We are seeking a motivated Cloud Operations Engineering Intern who possesses a strong understanding of cloud computing technologies, embraces automation, and is dedicated to the principles of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).

At ScienceLogic, we are undergoing a significant transformation in our product offerings, with the Site Reliability team leading the charge. Our primary responsibility is to design, implement, and maintain the cloud infrastructure that supports our innovative SaaS product line.

Our team is passionate about automation and adept at tackling intricate business and technological challenges. We integrate knowledge from SRE, DevOps, software development, and information security to enhance the agility and elasticity of our cloud operations while adhering to security and governance standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, automate, test, and monitor cloud-native technologies to establish a robust service platform.
  • Investigate and resolve customer and operational challenges with a focus on long-term solutions rather than temporary fixes.
  • Automate the process of keeping third-party and open-source cloud-native technologies updated, secure, and efficient.
  • Utilize advanced monitoring techniques to proactively identify and resolve platform issues before they affect user experience.
  • Engage in architecture and operations reviews to ensure best practices are followed.
  • Identify and automate the measurement of operational Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs).
  • Manage incident response, document standard operating procedures (SOPs), and train team members.
  • Develop automation scripts that are maintainable and extensible by other team members.
  • Contribute to special projects as assigned.
  • Be prepared to work under tight deadlines and participate in on-call rotations.
  • Take ownership of the platform's availability and performance.

  • 0-3 years of experience in software development, site reliability engineering, or cloud operations.
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with a solid understanding of algorithms and data structures.
  • Experience in building tools and scripting frameworks from the ground up.
  • Familiarity with cloud automation tools such as CloudFormation, Terraform, or AWS CLI.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, Groovy, PowerShell, Bash, or Perl.
  • Basic knowledge of Windows and Linux administration.
  • Understanding of networking, security, and cloud engineering concepts.
  • A collaborative spirit with effective communication skills.
