Position Overview

SAIC is in search of a dedicated IT Systems Engineer to become a vital member of our dynamic Engineering Innovation Factory Team. This team comprises solution architects and digital engineers focused on establishing and enhancing the infrastructure that drives the Digital Engineering Transformation across various sectors. Our initiatives in creating digital ecosystems encompass a diverse range of programs, clients, and corporate strategies that necessitate the deployment of Digital Engineering and Model-Based Engineering applications in Defense, Federal Civilian, and National Security contexts.

In this role, you will take charge of designing and implementing new cloud-based infrastructures for Digital Engineering tailored to both internal and external clients across multiple security levels. The selected candidate will outline infrastructure specifications and architectures, which will include aspects such as security measures, network sizing, provisioning, monitoring, and ongoing maintenance. Additionally, you will be tasked with deploying, automating, and sustaining these digital engineering ecosystems along with the associated applications on the designated infrastructures.

As a member of our Engineering Innovation Factory Team, you will collaborate with other digital engineering experts and promote a deeper understanding of the Digital Engineering infrastructure and ecosystems. This collaboration will assist in the development of digital work products. Furthermore, you will engage with the broader community, including Industry, Government, and Academia, to remain informed about the latest trends and emerging technologies, methodologies, and techniques that can enhance our digital engineering capabilities.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience in deploying cloud-based applications. Alternatively, a Master's degree with 3+ years of experience, or a PhD or JD with no experience. Consideration may be given for 4+ years of experience in lieu of formal education.
  • U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
  • Proficiency in Cloud architecture and application deployments on AWS Cloud.
  • Experience with Linux and Windows Servers in a virtualized setting.
  • Basic knowledge of bash and PowerShell scripting.
  • Experience in software development (Java, JavaScript, C#, C++, and modern web frameworks including REST APIs).
  • Fundamental understanding of IT network infrastructure components such as database services, application services, web services, network services, backup services, and network infrastructure protocols.
  • Capability to troubleshoot user-reported issues and analyze and isolate problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Willingness to obtain AWS Associate Level certification within the first six months of employment.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with DevOps and Infrastructure as Code practices, including Terraform and/or AWS CloudFormation.
  • AWS Cloud Certifications such as Solution Architect and/or Developer.
  • Experience with containerization technologies like Kubernetes and/or Docker.
  • Experience supporting U.S. Federal Government agencies and their processes.
  • Understanding of Agile Scrum methodologies.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.
