Job Overview

The Environmental Remediation Scientist will play a pivotal role in executing comprehensive groundwater and soil cleanup strategies utilizing specialized equipment designed for effective remediation at various project locations across the nation.


Key Responsibilities

The primary duties of the Environmental Remediation Scientist include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in on-site management for the execution of the Scope of Work (SOW) by reviewing and comprehending site-specific remediation tasks.
  • Support in the handling, mixing, and preparation of remediation products, ensuring accurate documentation of application points, injected volumes, and general observations.
  • Monitor and assess injection performance to enhance the efficiency of product delivery and achieve optimal distribution of subsurface reagents.
  • Compile daily reports that summarize field activities and findings.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to discuss project observations and propose necessary modifications.
  • Identify tasks that fall outside the SOW and communicate these to the Project Supervisor.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on company-owned equipment.
  • Adhere to health and safety protocols diligently.
  • Gain knowledge of remediation chemistries, processes, and safe handling practices.
  • Independently manage administrative tasks and report writing.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the Environmental Remediation Scientist position should possess strong organizational skills and be capable of meeting the physical demands associated with this role. Excellent writing and communication abilities are essential for success in a professional, technical, and construction-oriented environment. The candidate must be prepared to travel extensively, hold a valid driver's license with a clean record, and be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.


Additional qualifications include:

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in geology, engineering, biology, chemistry, or a related scientific field.
  • One to two years of relevant experience in environmental construction, particularly with groundwater and/or soil remediation.
  • Completion of OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER Training.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings effectively.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Willingness to take direction from mid to senior-level Project Scientists.
  • A strong desire to learn, work diligently, and achieve professional growth.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Capability to operate a pickup truck with a trailer in compliance with DOT regulations.
  • Physical ability to manage the rigors of fieldwork, including lifting and moving equipment weighing up to 60 lbs.

This position offers a competitive hourly wage with opportunities for overtime.
