Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the gathering, organization, and evaluation of data from various sources including construction sites, surveys, architectural plans, GIS data, subsurface utility details, and other relevant information for project planning, design, and execution.
  • Conduct fundamental structural engineering assessments related to research and inspections of both proposed and existing site conditions, resources, and infrastructure to ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and permits.

  • Contribute to the innovation of technologies, monitoring tools, modeling methods, design specifications, and operational strategies that prioritize safety and functionality for end-users and transportation systems, while integrating sustainable practices into structural engineering designs.
  • Aid in confirming site characteristics and providing technical support to ensure structural integrity against loads and pressures from environmental or human factors.

  • Prepare technical documentation summarizing research findings and conclusions, ensuring accuracy and clarity through sketches, calculations, electronic systems, spreadsheets, and 2D/3D visualizations.
  • Collaborate with technical teams and project leaders in identifying and assessing risks, contributing insights and analyses on design concepts, construction methods, mitigation strategies, and remediation efforts.
  • Engage with multidisciplinary teams to facilitate project execution.
  • Assist in the formulation of work plans and coordination of site activities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • 1 to 3 years of relevant experience post-education.
  • Engineer-in-Training certification.
  • Understanding of structural engineering principles, practices, processes, and their application to project-related challenges.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure planning, design, and construction management, including both rehabilitation and new projects.
  • Well-versed in relevant structural and civil construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and documentation requirements.
  • Analytical thinker with the ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and making informed decisions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of effectively conveying ideas to both engineering and non-engineering audiences.
  • Self-motivated with a keen attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight, as well as collaboratively within a team to achieve organizational goals.
  • Basic proficiency in technical writing, office software, mathematical principles, physics, predictive modeling, spreadsheets, and related tools.
  • Experience with discipline-specific design software (e.g., MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, InRoads, Geopak, GeoSlope, ANSYS, STADD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS).

Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with occasional lifting of up to 75 pounds.


Specific vision capabilities required include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
