Safety Trainer/Tech Responsibilities

The Safety Trainer/Tech is responsible for executing the site safety program on assigned projects. This includes educating and training Austin project staff in safety requirements and best practices for incident prevention, ensuring compliance with company and customer safety policies.

  • HASC Scheduling and Record Keeping
  • New Hire Orientations and Paperwork - Coordinate with Michelle on requesting authorizations/access for new employee-owners or existing employee-owners to different gates
  • Goal Zero Instructor/Translator
  • UKG Pro Learning Supervisor Training (Lonnie is responsible for the final NCCER Test administered at the end of all trainings)
  • UKG Sign Ins and Record Keeping (also assist employee-owners with navigating UltiPro and finding paychecks or making changes to their W-2)
  • Alerting Supervisors/Management of Cyber Trainings with Austin and Lyondell (LYO is usually only 1-2 a year) and keeping records of their email access and passwords
  • Drug Testing and Screening - Ordering materials/forms
  • Backgrounds (DISA)
  • Keeping all Employee-Owner NCCER Records
  • Personal Safety Files
  • 52 Weeks - Updating our 52-week weekly records on AustinCARE
  • Requesting new office employee-owner computer access, log ins, emails, or devices (for both Austin and LYB)
  • Request AustinCARE/iPad/Email Access for Supervisors
  • AustinCARE access and log ins for all Supervisors
  • Collect, sort, and file all Crane Inspections, Routine Lift Plans, Critical Lift Plans
  • Schedule and Record Keep NCCCO Trainings
  • Other duties overseen as part of the Trainer Role
  • Training Files (Master Training Log)
  • Daily Sign-Ins: Creating and distributing
  • AustinCARE Audits
  • JSAs: Separating and documentation

The Safety Trainer/Tech provides training, knowledge-based testing, and proficiency-based testing on:

  • CSC: Confined Space (Entrant & Attendant), Firewatch, Bottle Watch
  • Equipment: Forklift, Aerial Lift, Track hoe, Skid Steer, Backhoe, Telehandler, Excavator, Dozer, Roller, etc.
  • Overhear Crane: Proficiency testing by C&R Supervisor
  • Signal Person: Proficiency testing by C&R Supervisor
  • Additional trainings: Breathing air (how to use a respirator), JSA Training, WorkCrewRep Training, Vehicle use, Vehicle 360, etc.

Qualifications Required for this Position:

  • Education: No minimum education requirements.
  • Experience: 2 years of maintenance and construction experience.
  • Certification/License: A valid driver's license.
