Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Safety Specialist to join our team at the Houston Journal of Health Law & Policy. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting safety trainings and inspections, maintaining detailed records, and investigating accidents/incidents.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Safety Training and Inspections: Conduct regular safety training sessions for faculty, staff, and students, and inspect facilities, work areas, and equipment to ensure compliance with safety protocols.
  2. Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate and detailed records of all equipment, populate departmental databases, and generate reports as required.
  3. Incident Investigation: Investigate accidents and incidents to identify causes and implement preventive measures.
  4. Hazardous Materials Management: Provide services related to the handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials, as needed.
  5. Respiratory Fit-Testing: Assist with respiratory fit-testing and perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of one year of directly job-related experience.
  • Specialized training in basic trades, principles, procedures, practice, routines, or techniques in a specific area or trade.
  • Vocational competence in the operation of mechanical or electronic equipment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to use computer databases.
Preferred Qualifications
