The Security Risk Assessment Specialist will autonomously conduct comprehensive risk evaluations and establish security prerequisites for all IT systems supported by ISD.
Key Responsibilities:- Design, develop, and implement effective solutions to meet IT system security requirements.
- Collect and organize technical data regarding current security products, approved vulnerability management policies, and established procedures.
- Assist the Security Controls Auditor in verifying security measures and the Risk Management Framework eMASS inputs for all systems managed by ISD, conducting thorough analyses of system vulnerability management and remediation strategies.
- Ensure that risk evaluations align with relevant regulations and policies, facilitating compliance for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Evaluate, test, monitor, and uphold information security policies, procedures, and systems, including hardware, firmware, and software.
- Ensure that security designs, controls, and procedures conform to information security standards, effectively mitigating exposure risks. Identify security breaches, ascertain causes, and implement preventive measures.
- Perform routine tasks under supervision, developing core competencies by addressing standard challenges.
- Manage multiple simultaneous project tasks, create schedules, and develop plans and milestones while drafting necessary documentation such as reports, briefs, and communications.
- Identify and formulate methods, plans, and documents to enhance operational procedures, reports, and systems, aiming for improved efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Clearance: Active Secret Clearance
Certification: Any IAT Level II; must possess CompTIA SEC+ or equivalent
- A Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Cyber Security, Business, Project Management, or a related field, along with two (2) years of practical experience in information security, cyber security, or a related discipline. Alternatively, a High School Diploma with IT certification and five (5) years of relevant experience.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
- Familiarity with security control frameworks and risk models, including NIST and CMMC.
- Experience in conducting compliance and risk assessments in accordance with NIST SP.
- Strong customer service and organizational skills.
- Ability to lead and facilitate meetings effectively.
- Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
